What is an ECMT Permit?
The European Conference Ministers of Transport (ECMT) is an organisation which focuses upon the transport sector, there are 41 member countries.
An ECMT permit is an annual permit that may be required when travelling through ECMT countries. There is only a limited amount of time available if you are looking to apply for one so it is important to check if you need one.
Am I Eligible to Apply for a Permit?
In order to be eligible to apply for a permit you must hold either a valid Standard International or a Restricted Goods Operator Licence, both alongside an Operators Licence.
If you are applying via a Restricted Goods Operator Licence a simple way to demonstrate your compliance with the International Quality charter, showing you have a Transport Manager and increased financial standing, is to upgrade the restricted licence to a standard licence, something which must be done prior to utilising an ECMT.
How do I Apply for an ECMT Permit?
You are only able to apply for one type of Euro class permit on each of your operator licences. It is important that you know the amount of permits that you require and which class of permit you are submitting an application for. Information about your business is required as this will help with the scoring of your application if the demand for permits succeeds the amount of permits that are available. As there is only a limited quantity of permits available it is important that you understand the allocation process in order to better your chances of success. It is also vital that you know whether you are required to bring an ECMT permit to or through the country in question as you will be required to detail information about the journeys that you make.
Fees
Applications for ECMT permits cost £10 and issuing fees cost £123.
Application Deadline
Applications are open until 11:59pm on Friday 20th November 2020. Apply Now.
It is important that you remember to check to see if you are required to hold an ECMT permit as after the 20th November, you will not be able to apply until 2021.
