As you are aware and like many other UK Ports, Felixstowe has and continues to experience, unprecedented levels of inbound cargo volume.
A large portion of this cargo volume is remaining on quay longer than normal, as many units are still not being collected for up to several days after arrival.
This has resulted in ongoing congestion, which in turn has led to slower stevedoring operations and at times closure, or part closure of Dooley Terminal, Felixstowe. This is when insufficient space remains for trailers to be dropped and/or to allow safe working of the vessel currently on berth.
As a result of the above and in order to allow for forward planning - whilst also ensuring that inbound vessels can be worked, the below will now apply until further notice:
Export trailers can be dropped and swapped if they are booked to the vessel either already working in Port, or if a vessel is not in Port, then the next scheduled export sailing only.
Unfortunately this will mean that export trailers cannot be dropped for later vessels until further space becomes available.
This system will remain place until the current congestion has eased and the drop of export trailers can return to normal.
There may also still be intermittent closures, when congestion jeopardises vessel operations and whilst new terminal slots are opened.
We thank you for your continued support and co-operation at this time.
